And the winner is......

I used a very scientific method the select the winner of the cards. I printed all the comments on paper and cut them apart. I crumpled them up and put them on the floor in front of Jennie. She loves paper wads!
And the winner selected by Jennie is Diane at Diane's Place!

Then she cried because I wouldn't let her eat the paper!

Card Fun & Giveaway!

I’m finishing this order of forty thank you/baby notes in pink and brown with circles. (I airbrushed out the last name on the bottom circle.) I’ve been seeing pink and brown circles in my sleep! Yes - I tore 120 circles and inked around the edges! I also tore the corner off of 40 cards and tore 40 brown corners to glue inside! I got a call today to make fifty bridal shower invitations in coral and brown. More circles, more brown, and more cards! I’m glad I’m off from work this week!

Since I’ve been in card making madness lately, I decided to give away a set of six "Thank You" purse cards. If you'd like to enter to win these cards, please leave me a comment, with either a blog home page, or email address. I'll leave comments open until Friday at noon and announce the winner later that afternoon. Good luck!

Supper Tomorrow Night

Guess what’s for supper tomorrow night? Our tomatoes are finally ripe! We have three plants and several of the tomatoes are ready to pick! I can’t wait. I love tomatoes! I’ve been standing in the backyard with my salt shaker in my hand! Did I mention that I love tomatoes? I’m going to the grocery in the morning to get some sliced jowl bacon, Miracle Whip, and a loaf bread. Nothing else – well, maybe a few chips. That’s all we need to have meal. I love summer and tomatoes….

Update on Bird Nest

Sad news - the eggs are gone! I was going to show the nest to my sister when she came this morning and the eggs were gone! I almost cried! My first thought was that a cat had got into the nest last night and ate the bird eggs. The spider plant was sitting on a table on my porch. This afternoon, I hung the plant up to where a cat couldn't get to it in case the mother bird comes back to lay more eggs. (I know - silly thought - but I can hope!) I hope the mother got away! Then my husband and sister had an even more horrible thought than a cat getting into the basket. They thought maybe it was a snake! There were no shells around - a cat would not eat shells too. I hate the thought of a snake being on my porch - too close to my front door! I don't care what kind of snake it is - a dead snake is the best kind in my book!

Simple Sunday Sampler

When I went out to water my spider plant on my front porch yesterday, I found this little nest of 5 eggs. Later on the day, I saw a little wren fly into the spider plant. I can't wait for the tiny little eggs to hatch! I would never dream of disturbing her nest. My spider may just have to be a little dry for awhile!
UPDATE: Monday Morning: I didn't notice that there are actually 6 eggs in the picture. This morning I checked and she now has 7 eggs! She has been one busy mother bird!

I finally finished the cards sets for my friend that is getting married. The shower is next Saturday so I will need to get stamps this week to include with the cards.

OK – I’ll admit it. I’m a sentimental fool…

This morning I fixed breakfast and when I was ready to pour the gravy out of the skillet, I asked my husband to get out the gravy bowl. I started thinking about this bowl. This bowl is probably one of my most prized kitchen possessions. The bowl is not a fancy bowl by any means. We have used this bowl hundreds of times since we got married almost twenty years ago. It is a bowl that my mother didn’t want any more. It originally went with a mixer that had long ago died and Mom had thrown away. It was an old Sunbeam black and white mixer from the 50’s. This bowl is the perfect size for gravy for two or three people. If this bowl could talk, it would tell of all the discussions that we have had over gravy for the last 20 years. Now that I think about it – I don’t think I have ever put anything else in this bowl. This week I may live dangerously and put something else in this bowl! Maybe some baby limas or green peas….

It’s back to work for me tomorrow. I was off all last week and I’m actually looking forward to going back! I know I’m odd. I’ll enjoy tomorrow and then I’ll be ready for more days off!

Tuesday Thoughts

This is a picture that I took last year at this time of the wild roses that are growing in the fence along our driveway. They are in full bloom now but I haven’t seen any Japanese beetles yet. I didn’t notice that the beetles had a visitor until I brought the picture up on my computer. I entered this picture in the local fair last year and won a 2nd place ribbon.

One of my goals this week is to finish some note cards for a friend of mine that is getting married in July. I’m making her 3 different sets (ten in each set) of cards and including stamps as a shower gift. I finished one set today and started on another set tonight. I’ll try to post pictures tomorrow of the cards.

I’ve made a little progress on my list of things to do around the house this week. I’m just mainly enjoying being at home and not worrying about work. The phone rang several times today and I didn’t even want to answer it! Thank goodness for caller ID so I can see who it was before I answer! Yes – I do answer if it is someone I know (family)!

I cooked supper last night – an event at my house! I bought some frozen breaded catfish filets at Wal-Mart and fried them in the deep fryer. They were really good! I also fixed white beans, hush puppies, potato salad, cucumbers & onions in vinegar, and broiled some zucchini in the oven. We had enough for leftovers tonight. Tomorrow night we are celebrating my cousin’s birthday at Cracker Barrel. I probably will not cook again until Thursday.

Hope you all have great Wednesday!

Where has the time gone?!

The last week of school was so hectic and this past week I never slowed down to blog. There are so many end of school year things that have to be down in the office before I can close out the school year.

Why am I feeling guilt from not blogging? I guess it’s because I hate to start something and not keep it up or finish it like I should. Hopefully, now that things have slowed down a little, I can get back on track with blogging.

Yesterday I washed made a small dent in the mountain of clothes that has appeared in my laundry room. We kept Jennie last night while her parents went to Nashville to the CMA Music Festival. We went to hear a local Bluegrass gospel group sing at a “Hay Shed Gospel Crusade” some of our local churches are hosting this week. One of the local farmers has cleaned out his hay barn and set out bales of hay to sit on for the services. There will be special music and a different speaker each night. We are going to try to attend a few nights this week. It was very hot last night with a little breeze. Jennie was very good and enjoyed the music before she fell asleep on my shoulder. There is nothing like a sleeping 20lb. baby in 90 degree heat in hay barn full of people! She was plastered to my neck! Now I know why God doesn’t usually let women over 45 have babies! I was exhausted by the time we got home at 10:00pm!

I’m off from work this week. I’m hoping to clean out “junk” that we have had forever and never use. I want to change my curtains in my kitchen and rearrange my dining room. I may even paint the hallway upstairs - if I get brave enough to tackle it without help!

I want to take a few pictures this week of old houses and barns I've noticed lately. I think they will look great at sunrise - that means I'll have to get up early! Maybe I'll have to take a few naps....

Maybe I will find more time blog and get over this guilt I have for not blogging on a regular basis….
