Card Fun & Giveaway!

I’m finishing this order of forty thank you/baby notes in pink and brown with circles. (I airbrushed out the last name on the bottom circle.) I’ve been seeing pink and brown circles in my sleep! Yes - I tore 120 circles and inked around the edges! I also tore the corner off of 40 cards and tore 40 brown corners to glue inside! I got a call today to make fifty bridal shower invitations in coral and brown. More circles, more brown, and more cards! I’m glad I’m off from work this week!

Since I’ve been in card making madness lately, I decided to give away a set of six "Thank You" purse cards. If you'd like to enter to win these cards, please leave me a comment, with either a blog home page, or email address. I'll leave comments open until Friday at noon and announce the winner later that afternoon. Good luck!

Simple Sunday Sampler

When I went out to water my spider plant on my front porch yesterday, I found this little nest of 5 eggs. Later on the day, I saw a little wren fly into the spider plant. I can't wait for the tiny little eggs to hatch! I would never dream of disturbing her nest. My spider may just have to be a little dry for awhile!
UPDATE: Monday Morning: I didn't notice that there are actually 6 eggs in the picture. This morning I checked and she now has 7 eggs! She has been one busy mother bird!

I finally finished the cards sets for my friend that is getting married. The shower is next Saturday so I will need to get stamps this week to include with the cards.

OK – I’ll admit it. I’m a sentimental fool…

This morning I fixed breakfast and when I was ready to pour the gravy out of the skillet, I asked my husband to get out the gravy bowl. I started thinking about this bowl. This bowl is probably one of my most prized kitchen possessions. The bowl is not a fancy bowl by any means. We have used this bowl hundreds of times since we got married almost twenty years ago. It is a bowl that my mother didn’t want any more. It originally went with a mixer that had long ago died and Mom had thrown away. It was an old Sunbeam black and white mixer from the 50’s. This bowl is the perfect size for gravy for two or three people. If this bowl could talk, it would tell of all the discussions that we have had over gravy for the last 20 years. Now that I think about it – I don’t think I have ever put anything else in this bowl. This week I may live dangerously and put something else in this bowl! Maybe some baby limas or green peas….

It’s back to work for me tomorrow. I was off all last week and I’m actually looking forward to going back! I know I’m odd. I’ll enjoy tomorrow and then I’ll be ready for more days off!

Thursday Thoughts

"What a wondrous time is spring,
When all the trees are budding
The birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming;
That's how it is with God's love,
Once you've experienced it.
You want to sing, it's fresh like spring,
You want to pass it on."
Pass It On
Words and music by Kurt Kaiser

I recently took this picture on a Sunday afternoon. Since we live in an area with many Amish neighbors, it is not uncommon to see the Amish out and about on a daily basis. We had already passed several Amish buggies when we came upon this one. I'm sure he was on his way to see his true love! He had even tucked flowers around the head of the horse, harness, and ears.

This is another one of my purse cards that I made this afternoon. I need to mail it in the morning to a friend who recently had surgery that I've been keeping in my thoughts and prayers.

It's been a long week for me, so I'm really looking forward to the slower pace of living this weekend. Have a great Friday!

I'm a Winner!

I cannot believe it! This must be my lucky day. I won a CD over at Barb’s place www.anewchelseamorning.blogspot.com! I can’t wait to listen to the Steven Curtis Chapman CD. Thanks Barb for hosting this giveaway! Thanks Daisy for letting me know that I had won. Maybe I need to go buy a lottery ticket. No - I had better not push my luck!

I’m off from work this week (Spring Break) so I thought I would make a few card sets as thank you gifts for friends that have really helped me out lately. Since I have this whole week to play, I hope to get several sets done. One of the ladies is a Mary Kay consultant and loves pink and black. I made a set of 6 purse shaped cards for her. I’m going to try to post a picture on here if I can figure out what I’m doing……

(Hopefully a picture will be posted between here and the next paragraph…)

(It took me half the day to figure how to put my picture where I want it!)

I’m keeping my sweet little niece today and again on Thursday. She is 7 months old and at the age of wanting to sit up, lie down, jump on my lap, and be held all at the same moment! It’s been 27 years since I had a baby at this age. So I’m really feeling my age today! Her grandmother is going to keep her tomorrow and my sister is off from work on Wednesday. I’m going to keep her again on Thursday, so I have to two days to recover before she stays with me again!
